Angkor Wat International Half Marathon had been held since December 1996 at one of the most famous heritage sites in the world which was designated a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1992. The 29th Anniversary Event will be held at the Angkor Wat area on December 01st, 2024 in the most famous Angkor Wat ruins.

Angkor Archaeological Park located in northern Cambodia, is one of the most important archaeological sites in South- East Asia. Stretching over some 400 sq. km, including forested area, Angkor contains the magnificent remains of several capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century CE. These include the famous temple of Angkor Wat and, at Angkor Thom, the Bayon temple with its countless sculptural decorations.

Purpose of Event
Runners from all over the world participate to support a ban on the manufacture and inhumane use of antipersonnel mines. Entry fees and additional financial support foster independence among landmine victims by helping provide prosthetic limbs, social reintegration programs, and supporting other relevant and needed programs such as education and prevention of HIV / AIDS.

What to do at the Race Pack Collection?

  • Present your registration QR code to collect your race kit
  • Check your name and category printed on the Bib
  • For 21km & 10km runners, go to “BIB Check” counter to scan and confirm that your Bib information is correct. Please immediately correct them if there is an error.

Access to Running Course

From the Siem Reap town to the Angkor Wat temple (start point) around 6 km .It takes 20 minutes by Motor Remorque (Tuk Tuk) and 15 minutes by Taxi or Bus. All participants of the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon must arrive at the event place in front of the Angkor Wat at least 30 minutes before the starting time.

 

Refreshments & other set up along the course

Every 2km points ,the water station is set up for delivering water and electrolyte drinks to all runners. Some water stations also serve bananas together with drinks.

Check points for timing will be set up near Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom area.

Every distance of 1Km on the running course will be marked by a sign board on the right side of the road.

 

Course Condition

Angkor Wat International Half Marathon is a flat course with ancient trees along the course. There are around 14 ancient temples along the course. The runners can enjoy taking photos during running. It is a unique course inside the world heritage area.

Course Inspection

The race course is flat and leads to the ancient temples and trees. The temples along our course are Angkor Wat, Basei Chamkrong, South gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon, Takeo, Srah Srang, Ta Prohm, Banteay Kdei, Prasat Kravan and many others. These are some of the iconic temples within Angkor Wat UNESCO site.

You can join us during our course inspection by buying a ticket during your online registration. It is limited to 200 tickets only!
